Canadian law allows for dual citizenship. I would like to take advantage of the offer to acquire dual nationality. Both my sons Marcus 41 and Andries 35 have also expressed interest in dual citizenship. Please advise what steps I need to take to meet the deadline and whether my sons are also eligible to apply.
In regard to the question you posed about what kind of economic contribution I would be able to make more easily as a dual citizen the following:
I and my wife have generous incomes/ pensions. We also have a high net worth in real estate assets. We also have a 38 feet yacht. We would feel more comfortable visiting the Netherlands as citizens and stay either on our boat or rent/buy a property and spend part of the year there and spend our money in the Netherlands rather than in Florida as is the Canadian tradition of so called "snowbirds" who sustain the Florida tourist economy.
I am a graduate from the St. Hubertus Horeca Vakschool (Amsterdam1961) and would love to volunteer as an English teacher or find part time employment at my old school.
My son Marcus is a commercial real estate broker and partner in a Toronto firm and he would look forward to brokering commercial real estate opportunities in the Netherlands and vice versa for his pension funds clients who are seeking commercial income property.
My son Andries is a leading edge motion graphic artist in New York and would like to network with professionals in the Netherlands and vice versa to serve a long list of International clients who need motion graphics content for film, video, commercials and websites.
I am a founding member of the Canadian Netherlands Business and Profesional Association while I was a graduate student in the early seventies. The Association has survived and thrived and is very active 35 years later . It has served the networking needs of untold Dutch and Dutch Canadian Professionals who wish to keep their Dutch connection.
